Please reach  me at fiona@fionalambertcounselling.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Person-centred counselling is an approach that puts you at the heart of the process. Rather than offering advice or directing you toward particular goals, I offer genuine warmth, acceptance, and a non-judgmental presence , trusting that you are the expert on your own life. It's a space to explore what matters to you, at your own pace and in your own way.

Yes. I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling (with Distinction) and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I'm registered with both BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland), which means I work to a recognised ethical framework and am committed to ongoing professional development.

People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons , you don't need a specific problem or diagnosis to benefit.

Some  things people bring to sessions include anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions, stress, and questions around identity or sexuality. But this list isn't exhaustive . Whatever is weighing on you is welcome here.

Further information - How I can support you

This is entirely up to you. Some people find a small number of sessions helpful; others prefer to work over a longer period. I don't set a fixed number of sessions .  We can talk about what feels right as we go, and you're free to end at any point.

There's no single reason to seek counselling, and you don't need to be in crisis to benefit from it. Some people come with a specific difficulty they're navigating; others simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, or want to understand themselves better. If you're curious about counselling and wondering whether it might help, that curiosity itself is often enough to begin.

The introductory session is a chance for us to meet and get a feel for whether working together feels like a good fit. I'll invite you to share a little about what's brought you to counselling and what you're hoping to get from it.  There's no pressure to have everything figured out.  It's also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about the process.

Further information - What Happens in the first session

You're completely free to pause or end counselling at any time — no explanation needed. If you do decide to finish, I'd gently encourage an ending session if possible, as it can be a useful part of the process, but it's entirely your choice.
